What effect does hydroxytyrosol have on free radicals?

Hydroxytyrosol, a polyphenolic compound found mainly in olive fruits and leaves, has strong antioxidant activity. It has the same molecular structure as other phenolic compounds. In its molecular structure, Hydroxytyrosol contains not only a phenolic hydroxyl group, but also an alcohol hydroxyl group in the ethanol chain connecting the benzene ring. The unique molecular structure of Hydroxytyrosol is closely related to its antioxidant activity.

Hydroxytyrosol is easily absorbed by the body and inhibits the production of free radicals, as well as scavenging them, thereby preventing their involvement. Since Hydroxytyrosol effectively blocks oxidative damage to HEK-293 cell DNA, it may play an important protective role in hydrogen peroxi-induced cell damage.

Hydroxytyrosol is widely used in medicine, cosmetics, daily chemicals and other fields, playing a positive role in skin care and anti-aging.
