What is the molecular structure of hydroxytyrosol?

Hydroxytyrosol is a polyphenolic compound, usually in the form of esterification, which is widely present in olive fruits and leaves and has strong antioxidant activity. The molecular structure of hydroxytyrosol is the same as that of other phenolic substances. It not only contains the phenolic hydroxyl group but also has an alcoholic hydroxyl group in the ethanol chain connected with the benzene ring. Its antioxidant activity is closely related to the molecular structure.

As an antioxidant, hydroxytyrosol can be easily absorbed and utilized by the human body. It can not only inhibit the production of free radicals but also remove free radicals, thus preventing free radicals from participating in physiological activities in the body. Because hydroxytyrosol can effectively block the oxidative damage of DNA in HEK-293 cells, it plays an important protective role against cell damage caused by hydrogen peroxide.

In the process of using hydroxytyrosol, we can find that it is widely used in many fields such as medicine, cosmetics, and daily chemicals, and plays different roles in different fields.
